Message from the Principal

Welcome to Jay Shideler Elementary School Website in the Auburn-Washburn District. My name is Jeff Freeman and I am honored to be the building principal. I am available by telephone or email; please feel free to contact me whenever you desire.

If you are a new parent, welcome to Jay Shideler. We are glad you are here and you will be as well. This is a great school and great district. We are pleased to, once again, announce that we have made Standard of Excellence for this past school year in every subject; math, reading, and science. We have very high standards for our students and we work hard to make sure that our students achieve them.

We have a strong sense of community here in southwest Topeka. We are proud of our school and our students. We have an excellent staff and my goal is to insure that parents feel as honored to be a part of our school community as we do. All of us work hard every single day to make certain that every student feels welcome and safe. We will challenge every student to do their very best every school day. We must all work together to make this school and district the absolute best in the state. That means that all of us; administrators, teachers, classified staff, parents, patrons and students are working together with one thing in mind: What's best for the child?
